As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus”s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure “worthy of the gods” (Time Out New York).
Auditions for this fall’s production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical will be held prior to the first class (official date and times are TBA). All students should be prepared with a 30-second monologue and a 30-second cut from any pop style Broadway song with a backing track. You may also be asked to sing a selection from the show and read from the script for callback purposes.
Dates: Every Wednesday 4:30-7:00pm, August 19th start
Tech Week and Performance: 10/19-10/25
Grades: 9-12
Tuition: $425
Location: Stillwater Community Center, Room TBD
Tuition for all classes includes scripts, music, and materials. Parents may be asked to supply materials for costumes. Additional Saturday rehearsals (TBD) may be scheduled to prepare for upcoming theatrical performances when needed.
Payment plans are available as needed, with the entire amount being due by the conclusion of the program.
