When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.
Auditions for this summer’s production of Footloose will be held prior to the first class (official times are TBA). All students should be prepared with a 30-second monologue and a 30-second cut from any Broadway song. A backing track is highly encouraged and attending a dance call is required. You may also be asked to sing a selection from the show and read from the script for callback purposes. Please note that all students who enroll must audition and will be cast. Students must enroll in order to audition.

Location: Encore Dance Studio (Mon-Thurs), Stillwater Community Center (Fri)
Performance: June 28, 10am and 2pm

Tuition: $450
Tuition for all classes includes scripts, music, and materials. Parents may be asked to supply materials for costumes. Additional Saturday rehearsals (TBD) may be scheduled to prepare for upcoming theatrical performances when needed.
Payment plans are available as needed, with the entire amount being due by the conclusion of the program.
